SUPPORT OUR CAUSE
Our grassroots-funded campaign will prove you don’t need big money to bring big change. Your early contribution will give our race a tremendous boost right out of the starting block. Our goal is to raise $40,000 by September 18th, and I humbly ask for your support in helping us rise to this great challenge.
The UCP government passed Bill 29, which would allow candidates to self-finance their campaigns up to $10,000 per year. They’d also be required to donate any campaign surplus totalling more than $1,000 to a charity of their choice rather than holding it in a trust. However, individuals can contribute up to $5,000 to a single candidate.
It’s much easier for incumbents and career politicians to raise $5,000 donations than it is for newcomers like myself. Who has $5,000 to give to a single candidate right now?
In the last civic election, candidates for city council spent an average of $74,000, based on campaign finance disclosures filed. Winning candidates spent an average of about $134,000 on advertising, lawn signs and staff.
Your gift of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250 or $500 will help me raise the vital “early seed money” I need to successfully launch this campaign.
Thanks in advance for your encouragement and generous support.
